About Toytales

Exploring how toys animate to real life surroundings - Toytales is my retrospective journey where pop culture motifs meet the everyday life & ground realities of our nation today.

I grew up on Hotwheels, GI Joes, Sherlock Holmes and Satyajit Ray during childhood and with many advertising geniuses (writers, art directors, photographers, filmmakers) followed with good music in my adulthood. Fascinated to be always around creatives minds, i witnessed how realism was understood, celebrated and presented in many different ways.

Toytales is my point of view where i get to alter a certain reality. Little things that i see, observe, admire & resent, the real life incidents that affect or heal us in general are the motivations behind these photo-stories.

An outdoor location is my blank canvas and i shoot these toys placed under natural light that I source from various neighbourhood shops and malls. To avoid photoshop, i get to create these props and figurines which adds to each story. And the childhood self meets the contemporary self in a cognitive chrysalis. Hope you enjoy this.
